How a $6 latte went from being framed as a pinnacle of debt, to becoming token of human preservation

I Feel like

Maybe younger generations refused to stop buying outside coffee as a symbolic representation of the indomitable human spirit.

So much as to say “you may have taken away the freedom to claim land, but you won’t take away the habitual nature of what little humanity I have left”

It was never about the coffee or the avocado toast.

How many times have we collectively heard “but, this is the one thing that brings me joy every morning, the one thing I look forward to.” – that is the psychological lifeline.

Historically, when people are stripped of their agency on a grand scale, they almost always double down on rituals, culture and small habits. It is the way the human spirit preserves its dignity.

The $6 latte is a line in the sand.

The daily stubborn refusal to fully assimilate into a system that demands total austerity in exchange for a future it can no longer guarantee.

It was, and continues to be about holding on to sovereignty.
